Dear Parent,

The goal of this week’s lesson is to bring your child's heart closer to Jesus sooner.  A few decades ago, it may have been alright to formally go to church during childhood and, then, later develop a relationship with Jesus as an adult.  But, today, in order to survive and thrive on the playground, in preschool and elementary school, kids need Jesus NOW.

 

Materials Needed: A child-aged doll, a mommy/daddy-aged doll, and a grandmother/grandfather-aged doll, and a mirror.

 

Bible Scripture: Colossians 1:10-12

And we pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and joyfully giving thanks to the Father...

 

Today’s Script:

Do you feel close to Jesus?

I sure hope so!  I know I do! Every day with Jesus is a day that we do better, grow stronger, know more kindness, and feel more love.

​

Did you know that some people don't find Jesus until they are much, much older than you?

​

Let's pretend this grandma doll has been living her whole life not knowing Jesus.  Then, on her 70th birthday, she talked to a Christian friend at her party, heard Jesus' teachings and decided to let Jesus' love into her heart.

​

It is wonderful that she finally knows Jesus, but wouldn't her 69 years of life beforehand been better, stronger, happier and more filled with love if she had known Jesus sooner?

Next, let's look at this mommy (or daddy) doll.  Let's pretend that this mommy doll has been living her whole life not knowing Jesus.   Then on her 35th birthday, she talked to a Christian friend at her party, she heard Jesus' teachings and decided to let Jesus' love into her heart.

​

It is wonderful that she finally knows Jesus, but wouldn't her 34 years of life beforehand been better, stronger, happier and more filled with love if she had known Jesus sooner?

Now, let's look at this kid doll.  Let's pretend that this kid doll has been living her whole life not knowing Jesus.  Then, on her 9th birthday, she talked to a Christian friend at her party, she heard Jesus' teachings and decided to let Jesus' love into her heart.

​

It is wonderful that she finally knows Jesus, but wouldn't her 8 years of life beforehand been better, stronger, happier and more filled with love if she had known Jesus sooner?

Did you know that Jesus gave His whole life for you to end up in heaven with God?

Well, my child, you are a follower of Jesus Christ. Your good days will be better because you know Jesus.

​

Your hard days will be easier because you know Jesus.

​

Your mind will be stronger and heart will be happier because you know Jesus.

​

On the playground, in the classroom, or wherever you are when a problem arises,  you will stay calmer, feel better, and bounce back sooner because you know and love Jesus...and He knows and loves you too.
