We all know that children are tactile learners. So, why not "play" Bible lessons together in addition to reading them?

Previous Lesson: Walk on Water
Dear Parent,
The goal of this week’s lesson is to encourage your child. There will be hard days, but if we know Jesus, love Jesus, and let Him lift us up, we will feel so much better...as good as walking on water, perhaps.
Bible Scripture: Matthew 14:25-29
Jesus went out to them, walking on the lake...Jesus immediately said to them: “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.” “Lord, if it is you,” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on the water.” “Come,” He said. Then, Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus.
Materials Needed:
Bucket, water, stone, rubber duck
Today’s Script:
Do you ever feel low? Like you could sink?
(Let your child answer.)
I have felt that way before when things are going right. I have also felt that way when I was tired or sad.
Let’s look at this rock. If we drop it in the bucket, what will happen?
(Let your child answer.)
It would sink, wouldn’t it? It would sink because it is heavier and more dense than the water. Let’s watch.
(Drop the rock into the bucket.)
Yes. The rock sunk. It is not a good feeling when you feel like you could sink.
Now, let’s look at this rubber duck. If we drop IT in the bucket, what would happen?
(Let your child answer.)
Yes. It would float, wouldn’t it? It would float because it is all filled up with air in the middle. The air makes it lighter and less dense than the water. So, the duck rises to the top of the water.
(Drop the rubber duck into the water.)
Yes. We were right. The rubber duck floated! It is a good feeling when you feel like you could float and feel lifted up.
If you could feel like a rock or a rubber duck, which one would you rather feel like?
(Let your child answer.)
Yes. I would pick the floating and lifted up feeling of the rubber duck too.
Do you know what this rubber duck reminds me of?
(Let your child answer.)
It reminds me of Jesus. Even on days when I am feeling low and like a stone, I can pray to Jesus, and He will lift me up like the water lifts the rubber duck.
Just like the rubber duck is filled up with air, my heart is filled up with Jesus’ love. That lifts me up and allows me to float!
The bible says that Jesus actually did walk on water, and it says that He helped Peter to try to as well!
Did you know that?
Can you imagine sitting in a boat and seeing Jesus walk up to it ON TOP OF THE WATER? No wonder Peter asked to join Jesus on the water! That is so amazing! Peter was then able to get out of the boat and begin to walk as well. Peter did stumble a bit, but Jesus was right there to lift him up again.
So, on days when we are feeling a bit like this rock, we can pray to Jesus, let Him lift us up, and feel like we are walking on water too! AMEN!
